What this POS is for
A point-of-sale workflow is for the counter: find an item by code or name, change quantity, apply a bill discount when needed, take payment, and print. It is closer to a cash memo than to a full accounting voucher. If your main problem is invoice columns for wholesale dispatch or long service descriptions, start with custom billing software instead.
Counter entry
Staff can search by product code, name, or scan when barcodes are in scope. Favorites and short codes keep the common items one tap away. Quantities stay editable on the bill. The design goal is keyboard and screen speed for a queue of waiting customers.
Cash, UPI, and split payment
Full cash and full UPI are the default buttons. When a customer pays part in cash and the rest on UPI, the amount received field can record the cash portion and the remainder is saved as UPI on the same bill. Both lines can appear on the printed slip.
Thermal print and offline days
Receipt layout can target common 80 mm thermal printers used at the counter. When internet is unreliable, an offline billing file can keep taking sales on that device with a frozen price list; those bills stay on the device until you reconcile them. Offline is a deliberate option, not an automatic cloud sync.
Bills, stock, and reports
Completed bills can be listed, reprinted, and cancelled when your process allows. Stock can move with sales when you maintain quantities. Day summaries belong with the reports you specify. Credit customers and party balances still map to party ledger management when you need named accounts beyond walk-in cash sales. Wholesale and retail context is on the wholesale and retail page.
Questions to settle before build
- How many products and how do cashiers find them—code, name, favorites, or barcode?
- Do you need split cash and UPI on one bill, or only one method per sale?
- Which thermal printer and paper width do you use today?
- Must stock block a sale when quantity is zero, or may the bill still complete?
- Is offline billing required for power or network gaps?
